Kids and Sports: Where Do We Start?
Nowadays it is a no secret to anyone that the decision to enrol your child in a sports club cannot be overestimated. Sports does not only improve the quality of life and health, increase intelligence and self-confidence, but can even save a life – a physically well-developed child has a much higher chance of avoiding danger and a higher stress tolerance in adult life. That’s is why, choosing the right sports for a child must be the most responsible decision a parent could make.
When thinking about the most useful and gentle sports, swimming comes to mind first. This sport strengthens the immune system, relieves the spine and forms harmoniously developed muscles. Not to mention the fact that the ability to swim well can never be redundant.
Martial Arts – is more suitable for boys than girls (although one needs to consider preferences of a child as well). It is advised not to enroll a kid in MMA before the age of 7 and chose a type of MMA where there isn’t a lot of kickboxing in pairs (well, we do not want our kid to have a head trauma). However, the child will learn to fall correctly and will be able to stand up for him/herself. Also, MMA sports have great philosophy behind each move.
Football – just like any other team sports teaches a child to interact in a team, and besides, it is not too traumatic.
Horseback Riding – develops various muscle groups, corrects posture and has a great effect on a child’s nervous system. If your child is too emotional or too hyperactive, interaction with horses and ponies will balance his / her energy in a peaceful way.
Rhythmic Gymnastics – ideal sports for girls. It develops literally everything: muscles, flexibility, coordination, reaction, creativity and self-confidence.
Sport Dances – this type pf physical activity is more preferred by girls. However, having a correct posture and ability to move well to music will not harm our boys too. Dancing develops endurance. However, it should be noted that dancing shoes with heels are not so good for girls – they create a risk of injury and injure feet.
No matter which sports type you chose for your kid, please remember that your children should not feel pressure from you. Do not be a parent who pressures their children to literally “Be the Best or Die”. Sports should not be stressful for a child, but vice versa. Also, please remember that if your child does sports professionally from early ages, it can never go without injuries and sometimes, very serious ones. Let your child perceive sports as a game, let them enjoy the process, not just the results. And then, when they grow up active, fit and in great shape, have harmoniously developed muscles – they will definitely thank you for your right decision.
